Everyone knows Fort Knox holds tons of gold bars. It is also the home of the ten Langbord 1933 double eagles, the 1974-D aluminum cent, and twenty gold Sacagawea dollar coins that flew on the Space Shuttle ... 31 coins in all. There is an additional 1933 double eagle that's been turned-over to the US Treasury ... good chance it's stored there too. Surprisingly, it's also the national reserve depository for morphine and opium ... there's tons of it there. Anyone know of other coins that are likely to be there? Cal
Your post made me look up some facts about Fort Knox (could lot find anything new about coins there though), and i thought this fact was interesting: The gold is held as an asset of the United States at book value of $42.22 per ounce. Now thats some profit, 147 M ounces in there. Wish i could buy some at the price!
