Not at all, you are expecting a boost because of the date on the coin. Based solely on the toning, the coin is a 1. Some mundane blues, violets, and orange. I'd rank it about the same as this Morgan.

    Also a 1!

    Ok fine, it's close to being a 2, call it a 1+.

The 46 quarter I give a -0. Very ugly artificial toning.

Agree - the toning looks to be caused by applied heat. I don't think that coin would pass muster at a TPG.

46 quarter is not a toned coin. It looks awful. Rating of 0.

    Some quick thoughts/comments/questions:

~Please avoid posting new coins while a coin is still in play (it can confuse things)
~I'm excluding raw coins (yes there are some great raw coins, but it can get problematic-especially with blurry photos or AT/QC coins)

~Do we want to revert back to being an all Morgan thread (that makes things a little easier) or are we ok with all series (and understanding that results can be quite variable)?

Much as I like seeing other series, the scale is in Morgans and trying to judge any other series against a toned Morgan scale doesn’t seem to end well or be reliable for assessing them IMO.

I am ok, either way. As long as everyone understands that Morgans tone very differently than other series, because of the storage methods of their time.

Whenever you are ready, I have another Morgan for consideration.
