I'm just getting into collecting, and need to get some albums for the various sets I want to put together. I have noticed that most online stores sell sets in Dansco albums. Are Dansco better than, say, Whitman or Littleton? Which do you prefer, and why? Thanks
If you are going to use albums (and there nothing wrong with that), I recommend Intercept Shield. That's what I use for my raw coin sets. Google them and you'll understand why.
I use Whitman for my circulated stuff, because it is cheaper, but for my BU sets, it will go into a Dansco, as the plastic covers slide less easily. stainless
For books I use Dansco for most raw coins & higher quality 1/2" thick 3-ring binders with Eagle pages for slabs. This is just what I grew into and I have no complaints. Today, I wish Intercept Shield offered slipcase covers for the Dansco size books. Very best regards, collect89
I like Dansco, but prefer Whitman, more reasonably priced. That is, Whitman for everything but Barber Quarters! For some reason, esp if you are collecting AG's and G's, the quarters slide into the centers of the pages, and you could lose them.
not actually lost in the usual sense of the word, you could partially destroy the album or folder, to get the coin without any damage.
why???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
at one timed I used a Dansco, and very carefully installed the coins, etc etc Listen to GD folks. I have bought enough collections in all types of albums. They damage coins. Period. You must be the utmost carefull individual to use them. Slides cause wear and hairlines. I have a pile of cheek scraped Abe's to prove it. Flips or Airtites.
So what does GD say, airtites? I have my type set and BU Peace dollar set in Dansco's with covers, but lately I've been thinking about going to the Intercept sheild because I've got some expensive coins now. Thoughts?
GD says to not EVER use an album, folder or anything of the kind ! Use individual holders only and preferably the hard plastic types.
stash them in the small "zip-lock-plastic-containers" and save the $ for the coins.. but then i am not a pro..
