Actually both myself and PCGS got the JR number wrong. I had put JR-10 on the form but it's actually a JR-9. I contacted PCGS just in time and it's on a ship hold. They'll review it and for it but it won't be a top pop. There's a 66 out there.
Congrats! When a coin is for your collection and you get a grade above what you thought, you sell it and buy the coin in the grade you would have been happy with. You'll be just as happy.
Given that it's probably only worth about 10x what you paid... yeah, I suppose you did okay. You can do better next time.
I did do better. Remember when I mentioned earlier I had a new finest known JR-7 R.4+? Thread coming soon on all these bust dimes.
I hereby officially nominate @C-B-D for the "YOU SUCK" award. Congrats, man, I'm really happy for you.
Isn't the You Suck Award also called the Cherrypick of the Year Award? Ah well.... I like both names.
Eh, I think the "you suck" award can be applied in a few different ways. (I think it's a common award on the PCGS forums). I'd argue that spending that much for a questionable coin from awful pics and having it come back as a 65+ definitely qualifies. It's basically an "I wish I was you" award, expressing the highest degree of jealousy and admiration.
