    Show the Reverse side. If it looks flat opposite the dent in question then it was hit with a hard pointy metal object. It's damage.

    Looks like maybe someone was using a punch so they could drill a hole and then abandon the idea. Odd place for it to have a hole if that's the case, unless it was going to be made into a bracelet or necklace.
