Anyone up for a challenge? (maybe those in Germany/Austria)

As someone that collects the Austrian niobium and silver bimetallic coins, I was surprised to learn there is another related item to that collection.

In 2005, there was a medal made with a mintage of 15,000. It celebrated 50 years of the Austrian State Treaty (which reestablished Austria as a sovereign state). I've been looking for one of these (as well as any additional information about it) but haven't found much. There are some optimistically priced examples on European websites and I've seen a few more reasonable sales (under $100).

Does anyone know more about these? If you live in Germany or Austria, are these easily available there?

Learn more about the niobium series here:

Here is the image of the medal in question (as well as links to where I found the picture and info):

Down the road I will want the 1 coin with the butterfly on it, because 1 of my topical/themed coin collections is "coins with insects".

I actually like thee other side better with the realistic bee. I do not have any coins made from silver-niobium.

I have an extra of those (I bought a few originally). However, eBay might be the cheaper route. Occasionally you can find it for a good price (I've seen a few sell for under issue price-which is fairly unusual for this series in general).

@Seattlite86 or @Eduard maybe one of you might have some info (although I don't think either of you focuses on modern items)?

@chrisild I recall mentioned collecting some of the niobium coins

I don't do modern stuff so much, but a quick MaShops search shows a decent number of these available for purchase: https://www.ma-shops.de/shops/search.php?submitBtn=&searchstr=Niobium&catid=1148
4 of those are the 2005 coin you are discussing, for around $100. If you need help purchasing from Ma-Shops.com, I'm happy to help. So is @ma-shops and any other collector of European coins :)

I did look there and what they have is the 2005 25 Euro coin, which looks like this:

What I’m looking for is the 2005 medal that looks like this:

Sorry, my friend, I really know nothing about these. As you mentioned, when it comes to German numismatics my focus is 18th/19th century.

Anyone know any online dealers from Germany or Austria that have moderns?

I know some dealers in France. If you PM me, I can give you their email addresses. Otherwise, heres the medal you asked about:

    Only one I could find.

I saw that one but the price is way too optimistic. I saw one sold on MA Shops for 35 Euro and from the limited info I can find, around $125 is the max that I'd be willing to go (and that might be more than it's worth).

And sure I'd like to hear the French dealers if you want to send me a message on here. Thank you!

Thank you! I found that one too while searching German eBay. It’s still too pricey for me, but the price is better than the other example I found.

And I have learned the trick to search for “niob” over the years of collecting the Austrian niobium series. I have all of those already, so this is the last niobium item I’m looking for.

    here another source:
    https://www.ebay.de/itm/333613539718
and the dealer may accept a lower price than 135 EUR. And as he is only delivering to Germany, I could maybe help you there

My budget was $100-$125 (so around 105 EUR) with shipping to the US. If you believe that is possible, I would certainly appreciate any help!

Hi ddddd, I made a request to the seller for 100 and asked him if he would also sending it directly to the US. Now we have to wait for 24 hours.

I just got the answer, he is not accepting 100 EUR, but willing to send to the US if the buyer pays for it. So maybe you can contact him yourself. Good luck
