I am having trouble with this coin from @tenbobbit It's rather handsome, but I can't figure which ruler it is! The obverse shows ANTONIN which sort of limits it to, I think, Caracalla, Antoninus Pius, or Marcus Aurelius. Reverse shows a stag standing left. I see what appears to be EPHESOS. I looked through Wildwinds pages for all three of my guesses, but could not find a matching stag left. I did find a stag left for Marcus Aurelius, but the obverse legend did not match. Pls help. Diameter: 17mm
I looked up "stag, l." on rpc and found this one from Trajan. It has a similar diameter and design. I'm probably way off the mark though... https://rpc.ashmus.ox.ac.uk/coins/3/2052
I think @furryfrog02 has Ephesus right - maybe the Antoninus Pius version: https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=2656589
Bare with my logic process here... The stag portrayal is often associated with Artemis, so her dedicated temple there would help confirm Ephesos. I'm getting a 'Pius' vibe from the portrait on the obverse. I found this...though the reverse legend doesn't match... The legend on your coin looks more like this one, except that the stag is right... Hmmm... EDIT: It looks like @Roman Collector may have found it.
