imgonline-com-ua-twotoone-zz4HBXflCGnd0T5.jpg So I recently bought this follis of Justinian and I'm starting have doubts about it's authenticity. Do you see that weird line thing next to the S at the start of IVSTINIANVS? It's as high as the other letters, so it has to have been in the die? Could that theoretically happen? I bought it from a reputable dealer, so I didn't have any doubts until I noticed it. There's nothing else wrong about it, the weight, size, style, ect are all good.

It looks like it's part of the "S". OK coin to me.

Just a die break or poorly prepared die. Your choice.

Filled die? Looks fine to me. Actually a better than average one for coins like this.
