Meh. I'd rather have a 1933 double eagle.

Awesome coin. Though from my view point $10,000,000 is a lot for a coin, any coin. Will be interesting to see what it brings.

I am like @longshot.... Absolutely spectacular to view and every coin collectors dream to own..... Even if I were worth a hundred million, I couldn't bring myself to drop ten million on a coin...... But I could sure think really hard about it!!

    $10,000000 in 2020 dollars,
    Not in 1794 dollars.
( Again, How much did we pay for Alaska?)
    Just wonderin'

I'm afraid I will be an under bidder on this treasure.

How would he know that it was the first one struck? Does it have a "pedigree" of some kind?

Indeed it does. A rather long one.

Pretty remarkable that they know the very day it was struck.

Not by any means. A 1822 $5 would be a tough call though

They should give it back. I wouldn’t take it for any price

Do the people of CoinTalk want to pull our money together and make a bid? If all of us contribute we might be able to make it.

It does have a nice pedigree, but there is no way to prove it is the very first one, and I highly suspect it wasn't. But it IS one of the very first ones struck,

Not that remarkable, all 1758 1794 dollars were struck that day.
