Here is one of my favorite trios. Currency used by the US during WW2 much like the Hawaii notes. The backs of these are not as neat in my opinion as the Hawaii notes. All three pieces are uncirculated. Enjoy.
I love those notes and like them much more than the Hawaii notes. I hope I can add some like those to my collection next year. Thanks for sharing!!! Best Regards ~ Darryl
Great notes! I just got a $1 note like that but it is far from as good of condition as yours! Nice set!
Very nice notes there. I wonder how many of those made it into circulation in the USA after the war was over? They were unlike the Hawaii notes in that they had no overprints, just the yellow seal. They did not stand out like the Hawaii notes and were more likely to be circulated in the USA when they could have.
In addition to being used as "spearhead currency", the yellow seal notes were used for soldiers in transit either within the ETO or stateside. In the ETO all US personnel received their monthly pay in the local currency. If they had orders stateside or to be transferred out of theater they had to convert their local currency to yellow seals. If they went stateside, they could spend the money. If they went to another country, they had to convert the yellow seal notes to the currency of the new country. My wife's grandfather still had the yellow seal notes he received when he shipped home at the end of the war. Unfortunately, they went to another member of the family when he passed.
Well perhaps you should be in the other fourms, Sir. You do not know what you are missing..LOL RickieB
I said that once upon a time as well. Then I realized how much good stuff you could still pull from circulation IF you knew what to look for.
