Went to a coin club meeting in Des Moines last night. During our show and tell time one of our members shared a real bummer of a story. He bought a couple of real nice pieces of uncirculated fractional currency from a fellow collector the other day. He always keeps his currency in nice holders and knows how to show them off. Anyway, he was trimming down some of the plastic currency holders to fit the small size of the fractional pieces. Some how the paper cutter pushed harder than usual and the two excellent pieces of currency got under the blade and he cut them in half. Which, now they are totally worthless. I was amazed that he told the entire story in front of the coin club. You have no idea the number of groans that came from the members. And you thought you had a bad day.
measure twice..... CUT ONCE! Perhaps next time this guy is cutting holders he will REMOVE the notes prior to dropping the blade! what a horror story i have cut many sheets, never holders.... but i could not imagine attempting this with notes STILL IN THE HOLDERS! live and learn :hail:
Why in the world would he do that? They do make mylar sleeves for Fractionals as well... It never ceases to amaze me the things some folks do...LOL At least he could have cut it w/o the note in there! RickieB
