I coudnt resist buying these got them for $5 a piece but later seen them selling from $14.95 up Somalia 2007 $1 Purple Passion Classic Motorcycle Coat of arms, Value Date Yellowjacket Classic Motorcycle Coin Coat of arms, Value Date
Yep seen the guitars and I am tempted by one or two of them as well LOL NCLT since 2000 I think nearly all there production is aimed at the collectors market.
Great innovative idea for coins by Somalian mint. But I think I'll give it a miss coz NCLTs are not of my hobby interest. BTW how big are these coins? From the pics I assume they bigger than crowns.
There is such thing as a mint in Somalia. Also, the official currency in that "country" is the shilling, so who would issue dollar denominated coins there? Except some clan chief maybe who has an agreement with some coin dealer/distributor somewhere else in the world ... Christian
Are you meaning these are some sort of fantasy coins. When I saw dollar instead of Shilling, I thought they restructured their currency.
I wanted to write "There is no such thing as a mint in Somalia" ... Now that you guys quoted that bit, fixing my previous post would look odd. And yes, in my opinion those pieces are basically fantasy coins. There have been several Somalia issues with fictitious denominations - 5 dollars, 10, dollars, etc. But the ones I know, from a few years ago, all have the country name "Somali Republic", not "Federal Republic of Somalia". Hmm. Christian
Got one of these several months ago from joel coins. Very small, notice the 2x2 flip. Silver plated. Very fragile, but it looks neat.
It is actualy called Transitional Federal Government of the Somali Republic formed in around November 04 :kewl:
Just found this article on them and it throws quite a bit of light on the subject, you need to read down a bit to get to the coin part LOL apparently they are made in the UK http://www.blackmountaincoins.com/coins/Motorcycle-Mania/subpage217.html
I purchased a set of 6 of the Bikes last fall. They are pretty neat looking actually. I have seen the guitars but don't own any of them.
That's good Is that the one responsible for the Pirates, Genocide and Al-Quada cells? Anything form Somalia right now has blood on its hands and best not supported for humanitarian reason. I hope this post isn't a violation, but sometimes a sobering reminder might be worth looking at. Ruben
I got the Fender one for my son last Xmas.and that the last I seen it but I think the I got was a 90% silver. I thing it was the same sell too.
I won't buy the description given for these coins by blackmountain.com strictly on the basis that they are coin dealers. And secondly they do not fit the NCLT criteria IMO coz I don't think they can be spent in Somalia in any way.
link to joelscoin. lots of interesting and fun things to look at, or buy.:smile http://www.joelscoins.com/oops.htm
