Hum Interesting, I have never thought about that. But if the coin lost so much in thickness, wouldnt it also loose a bit in diameter??? Because this one is still the same size as a normal cent, but maybe 1/3 as thick
I would think so , if in an acid bath it would have to lose some metal from all 3 sides , if you have a micrometer you coyuld measureits dia. and compare to another cent . rzage
Just comparing the acid penny to your own avatar, it looks like plenty of material has been removed from the edge. Look at the tops of the letters.
Also it looks like it was sitting tails up in the acid , look at all the extra metal removed fromthat side . rzage
It has definitely lost some diameter. How many coins do you know of where the lettering abuts the outside of the coin? BTW, that is top and bottom of the coin.
That is a very good point. But like I said, it is the same size as a normal cent, I just looked again, and I dont get it. You just added to my confusion, lol
