I just received a complete set of BU Jefferson War Nickels in the mail today. The seller listed the item as a complete set of gem BU war nickels in a plastic Capital holder. The coins looked pretty good to me so a put a competitive bid of $70 on it (see seller's photo below). I really wasn't expecting much and would have been thrilled if any of the nickels were actually GEM BU. WOW was I surprised when I opened the box and found a gorgeously toned set of raw war nickels. I spent the last two hours photographing them. Here is the set in all of it's glory. Anybody who wants to help me grade these coins, feel free to give me your opinion on any or all of these. I will provide bigger photos of each coin in the next post. Enjoy!
Now with the blown up pics, the toning on the obverse of that 1945-P is wonderful as well. Those 2 are my favorites (that and the 1943-D I mentioned before).
Nice pickup. Sometimes you find a gem hidden amongst the lumps of coal generally residing on ebay. Nice MS set of Jeffersons ya found. Congrats.
I thank you for that observation and I guess I will reveal my grades first. 1942-P-----MS66 1942-S-----MS64 1943-P-----MS65 1943-D-----MS66 PQ 1943-S-----MS66 1944-P-----MS63 1944-D-----MS66* 1944-S-----MS64 1945-P-----MS65 1945-D-----MS65 1945-S-----MS67 I would love to hear other opinions. Come on guys!
Wowowow I really like the 1943-D and 1944-D! Amazing find!! I've been looking for these kinds of deals on ebay, but that's a bit out of my price range = \ Awesome set!
Awesome coins at a great price. Being a WW2 buff that was the first set of coins I decided to complete. Congrats on a great buy. encil:
