This certainly isn't for the long-time Morgan Dollar connoisseurs, but I thought I'd share it for those that are or will be new to the hobby. I can't remember where I found this on the net a few years back, but it was a split image that I combined into one. It looks like @messydesk (VSS?) did the photography, but I can't make out the name on the reverse.
I'm a long time CC Morgan collector and I think it's pretty neat. Some things there I never thought about. Thanks.
You're welcome. I just noticed the name is on the obverse as well- Mitch Hill. Man, how did I miss it?
Mitch did a great job. However, I think it needs a few more arrows pointing to the: Eagles Head Point of Cap Cheek Cotton Stem Arrow Shafts Oops, he got that one.
It's a good Morgan "anatomy" diagram. Yes, some of the info is obvious, but terms like bear claw, scribble ozone, and hair vee, how to count stars and feathers, and laterality of reverse features aren't, and are good to know. I just wished he'd have used a nicer coin. There's another that uses a white proof coin that I have. I thought it was on VAMWorld, too.
Vamworld uses that exact some picture as the original post. Their whole page on "knowing your way around the Morgan" is stellar. Way too many pics to share: http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.c...101#Knowing_Your_Way_Around_the_Morgan_Dollar
