Whats up with the New ANACS Label? Haven't purchased many coins incased by ANACS since the whole slab debacle that James Taylor orchastated and then the whole swap of IGC and ANACS when James Taylor purchased ANACS. Now the label change. Is it just me but as soon as I see the yellow label SGS flashes through my mind and I tend to just move on fair or unfair that is how I it is. Shame ANACS used to be my slab of choice several years ago. What do you all think? http://cgi.ebay.com/1961-FRANKLIN-H...ryZ11973QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I used to like ANACs , found some nice undergraded coins , but any color but yellow , it screams , warning , warning Will Robinson . rzage
I have seen them, but have not purchased one. For the older ANACs slabs it is a toss up on if the coin is correctly graded. Then again, you usually get them cheaper - the key is finding the acurately graded ones. Of course this holds true of any TPG. The one thing I liked about slabs is that you could line them up in a stack and see which coin was which with the label on top. The color choosen does not bother me - so long as SGS is no where on the slab.
will it match my other slabs? The first thing I had to check was the reverse of the 1961 half dollar for doubling. The second thing I had to check was the yellow label. I had one of the original ANACS small white slabs with their yellow label. I believe that the ANACS original yellow label was used for their "genuine only" slabbing service. My coin with the yellow label is a quarter struck on a cent planchet. I had it removed from the yellow label ANACS & had it put in an NGC holder with grade. Very best regards, collect89 I don't like the new ANACS slab with the yellow label too much. I really miss the old ANACS small white slab with the white label.
Think for a moment. Are you buying the coin or the slab? I noticed the difference, but that's all. Then I look at the coin. BTW, since ANACS has changed hands I believe their grading has become a LOT stricter. I believe they are trying to regain the reputation they had that put them up there with NGC and PCGS.
kanga - go find me a coin, any coin, in an old small white ANACS holder that is graded as MS or PF70. Then we'll talk about when they were strict with grading.
I sent an email to ANACS voicing my opinion regarding the yellow label. Here is the response. I imagine you can guess from the reply what my thoughts are on it. Mr. XXXXXXX-- That is our new label that you saw. I am sorry that you do not like it. I will pass along your feedback here, and I thank you for providing it. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. Best Regards-- John B. Hall Director of Business Development ANACS
Yep, I do it all the time. CEO, President, Sales manager, Technician, Janitor, Cook. whatever happens to work at the time.
