I'm finding the most ridicuous price guides for the Saint Gauden's Double Eagles. Way below gold spot! Even for old dates that have large numismatic values. What gives? https://www.jmbullion.com/coin-info/us-gold-coins/saint-gaudens-20-dollar/ https://www.coinstudy.com/saint-gaudens-gold-coin-values.html Look at the above two links and tell me if I'm crazy or are they? LOL!
Gold bullion has been going up very quickly. These guys have not taken the time to update their price guides.
Price guides are just that guides. If you look, they are selling the gold they have left with the adjusted gold prices. Most of their Pre-1933 gold American coins are sold out.
Yeah, that bottom link looks really low, and you're right it does say it was updated but their prices were certainly not part of that update! You should be able to buy a Saint Gaudens for right around $1900, a little more for a premium but remember your local LCS has inventory they gotta sell so they should be very willing to negotiate! Maybe a small percentage below spot even, most coin dealers expect negotiations, some hate them, but who gives a shipt!!
My LCS updates his gold prices every hour or so. I can't believe the big online shops lag more than 1 day, if that. Don't forget, Saints are 0.9675 ounces, not a full 1 ounce.
They generally don't. Those links are basically just articles someone wrote. People basically never go back to adjust prices in articles
