Like Ruben posts these came from pocket change. The Arizona quarters must be famous for their die cracks - must be all that heat. I think coin one is the extra cactus variety, obverse die crack through D.

Coin 2 has a crack on the reverse from the rim to the scroll. On the obverse at the bust we have a start of a crack.

Now coin three has what appears to be the same crack - just more into the bust and all the way to the rim.

Arizona quarters are the only one I have found die cracks on so they must be numerous. Must be all that heat out there. :)

Just having fun with pocket change.

Yes - so says my nephews girlfriend. She said it is nothing like our Augusts with the humidity around here. I have been in Vegas when it hit a hundred and it felt nice to me - at least as I walked between casino's.

The design of the Arizona quarter is quite intricate which is why the dies probably wore out fast...

http://numismaster.com/ta/numis/Article.jsp?ad=article&ArticleId=5363 - article on die cracks in general. Some sites list them as errors, but I do not consider them errors. Not a whole lot of research needs to be done - just google it. Die cracks are more common on modern coinage than people think. I look for them, but these are the best ones I have found.

I would not buy this but you could get yours here for only $6.95 http://cgi.ebay.com/2008-P-Arizona-State-Quarter-Die-Crack-Error-Great-Pics_W0QQitemZ380079032465QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20081106?IMSfp=TL081106119007r1400
