Hi, Well I got my Intercept US Type Set album today and my first batch of type set coins to insert in it. Here I go! Day One and I'm already 12% of the way done! That is, if you merely count it by the number of slots to fill. If I go by dollar amount to purchase it's probably below .01%, LOL! I got nine very cheap coins to start: Lincoln Head steel penny 1943 Lincoln Head penny 2017-P Mercury dime 1944-P Roosevelt dime 1964-D Washington quarter 1957-D Kennedy half dollar 1964-P Kennedy half dollar 1976-D Sacagawea dollar 2000-D
I'm shooting for a total of 23 Trade Dollars. I'm going for 1 TD from each year and MM. There's some varieties, different rev and obs and so on. But right now, those are not my concern, just year and MM. I'm including 1 pattern TD and the so called Potty TD. To me, they're both in the TD family and a part of their rich history. I didn't include the 1884/85 TD. Those 2 are only for the very wealthy. Even then, it would be hard to obtain one of them, due to their rarity. I have 9 TD so far in my journey. 1873 1873 Pattern 1874-S 1876-S 1877-S 1877-S Potty. 1878-S 1879-Proof only 1880-Proof only
Is the album a new edition? I ask cause you mentioned the 2017-P Cent. I don't think the old ones have a slot for that.
They ought to have two for the Shield cents, IMO. One for 2010-date, and a special one for the 2017-P.
Intercept Shield albums have been out of production for several years, so they won't include recent special issues, like 2017. Wizard Supply bought the old Intercept Shield inventory, brand, and website and continue to sell them but no new items are being made.
Yeap. First and only. Something special. Best wishes for the balance of the collection. Post progress pics!
Additions to my type set. 1909 vdb Lincoln cent Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle No Motto 1908 Indian Head Quarter Eagle 1926 These last two were unexpected and nothing I would buy this early in my collection. They were a gift from my Mom! See attachments. Any opinion on grade? Or are the photos not good enough?
Nice pieces to a type set there! Those are the coins that derail a lot of type set hopefuls, so good job on you and Mom
My latest aquistion is a 1883 No Cent nickel, MS64. Broke out of slab. I have to seriously learn how to take photos of coins, though. Very sad.
