Here is my two Morgan Dollars, that I bought during this month. It's a bit late for a collector who collect US coins since a while. But I had bought once a Silver Countrifeit Morgan Dollar,it was two months ago,it had a weight of 24.2 grams.I returned to the dealer the next day & I got my money back.During my coin collecting era, I have been encounted with many Morgan dollars, sometimes very light copper mixed silver looking Morgans. I was always in doubt to buy a Morgan Dollar. Finally I met another coin collector/also who likes to deal "Steve" who had brought a bag of Morgans from USA.Different dates,No Key Dates, not even any CC mint.Just P-S-O. During last few months there was a high orders on Morgan Dollars, Before the dealers/antique shops ect. used to sell any Morgan Dollar for 30$ they used to buy it for 20-25$. 30$ was for any grade/condition,Even sometimes damaged or drilled Morgans sell fo 25$... After the low quantity of Morgans,Steve wanted to sell to some dealers,Most of them didn't agree with the price. He wanted 30$ for any Morgan. So the dealer should sell for 35 to 40 maybe. That made a 5$ raise on Morgans. Now with 30$ you can only find G-VG or FAKE Morgans.(Yes! there are lots of FAKE/Countrifeit Morgans here, maybe as much as real ones...) Fine Morgans are sold for 40$ sometimes 35$. So knowing Steve who raised the price around the city, help me to buy each of these Morgans for 30$ only. Maybe you guys in USA buy it Certified graded Morgans for 30$ or less (cheapest types) or maybe cheap auctions on Ebay. Please experts, give me your grades so I can guess it approx. I like to call :Crying Morgan 1882-0 & 1900-P The reverse of 1882-0
Very cool! I will have to pick up one of theses.... i've wanted one for a few months now. I should of bought one the other day but instead I purchased a 1996 silver eagle and I feel I got jipped on it.
careful with the Morgans unless they are slabbed. Try for some good AU50+ examples at first if going for raw coins. LOOK for hairlines and signs of dipping. Explore the Breast feathers ... Ruben
Nobody took attention on "The reverse of 1882-0" is it VAM? it has two olives.See the macro photo I posted... I bought another MOrgan too I will post a photo soon, IT'S TONNED
well i am far from a morgan dollar admirer but i would like to see the obv of the morgan on the rev of the penny it would look good
No luster..but very little wear..it has "personality". How do grade a coin like this that lacks luster? My other question; Is this a counterfeit? Something about the spacing between the 8 & 9 in the date doesn't look right..
Very clever...I thought perhaps it was a counterfeit with a lot of copper, not too much silver..hence the brownish red patina..
