I doubt most people who are spouting off have even bothered to study the price difference, if any, for themselves. It's just assumed because that's what the crowd is saying. This thread is classic herd mentality on a forum. People are so worried about how they're viewed by their peers here so they're too chicken edited to stray away from the herd and think for themselves. The first few posters spoke for everyone. The only slabs that should possibly be higher priced would be one receiving the gold sticker, indicating that the coin is choice/ premium for the listed grade. These would be the only ones somebody would consider sending back in to be re-graded. The green sticker would not give me any reason to believe it should be sent back in for re-grading. Likely, the opposite. Of course, everyone posting here knew that!! The green sticker is just a second opinion verifying that the grade given is appropriate. No different than assuming the grade is appropriate without the sticker. So there should be little to no difference in price. Ok, as you were. I know it's more fun blowing everything out of proportion.
Cac? ..............every time i hear of CAC i immediately think of football! LET'S GO TO THE VIDEO TAPE!! you know, let's revue the initial call!! SHEESH!!!
Are you implying that's a bad thing? About 50% of the time those initial calls get overturned. Has instant replay hurt the game? No. It's taken care of a huge problem. That being 50 year old men trying to see multiple events happening at a fraction of a second. Most of the time from a bad angle! Instant replay should have been implemented a long time ago.
This is what I was thinking. I tried to say that before but I don't think it came out right. It sounds like the green sticker won't be placed on a low end coin for a grade...but if the coin meets CAC's definition of a given grade a green sticker will be placed. So, CAC is therefore confirming the grade rather than saying it is a premium. Here is kind of my thought about CAC...so correct me if I'm wrong. If a coin is graded MS66 and is a MS65/66 slider it gets no sticker, if it's a solid MS66 it gets a green sticker, if it's a MS66/67 slider it gets a gold sticker. I have always felt, out of those three choices the coin worth MS66 money is the solid MS66. The coin that is a slider MS65/66 isn't worth the full MS66 price because it's low end for the grade. So, I would think...based on this, that green sticker CAC coins are worth the going rate for a grade while coin's that didn't sticker (and therefore a lower slider) are worth a somewhat discounted rate because they are low end for that grade. The gold sticker coins are the high end, possibly undergraded coins that are worth the premium money. That's my take on it anyway. I personally love instant replay in football. I didn't at first because it slows the game down...but it really is a good thing. I wish the NFL would adopt the college replay system though.
I don't have time right now to go back and read all 6 pages but here is what I think of CAC. Good for them! They started a business, and have been able to sell their product. Would I use them?? Most likely no. But if I'm buying from Heritage or Teletrade I would feel maybe a tad bit safter if I couldn't see the coin in person knowing that it was CAC. I would really want to know that it was CAC if lets say the coin was a 1953-s Half Dollar with FBL. As you know a 1953-S with FBL isn't something that comes by everyday, and some are overgraded. To find out of these and buy it sight-un-seen would be nuts. If it had a CAC that would mean that at least another set of Pro's agreeded with the grading Co. Speedy
What is cool about Heritage is that enough people here work for Heritage that you can ask them to look for you Ruben
I really don't care what the charts say , my reason for liking the CAC sticker idea is solely that a coin with the sticker is at least average for the grade , also I've already made my mind up to the price I am willing to pay so the sticker having an effect on the the price is moot , as the coins I buy are already priced . rzage:smile
I do like the idea of CAC for coins with designations such as FBL, FH, FSB, ect. Those are slabbed as premium coins to begin with and without being able to see the coin's in hand, it would be nice to have a professional second opinion.
