Bank Lobbies Closing?

No problem with BoA branches in Lee County, FL, but appointments are requested for most "non-deposit/withdrawal" operations.

Note: I was just in one BoA this morning, and I asked the teller if they were experiencing a shortage of change, and she replied, "Bring it in!" ~ Chris

No shortage of Covid in Florida either unfortunately.

 

Big deal! There were no cases of West Nile Virus reported in Florida in 2001 until I caught it. The mosquito died! I lived! ~ Chris

 

My bank here in Montana is locally owned and only has two branches. I received an email yesterday that they were closing the lobby again, due to the virus. My credit union in town, again a local establishment, is still open as far as I know.

I'm thinking there might be a business idea in Mobile Curbside Coin Counting. Bring the Coinstar to the user!

Isn't it amazing how a simple little punctuation mark can change the whole gist of a comment? Yet, there are so many people on these forums who don't get it. ~ Chris

 

When I read that, I thought of the commercial where a guy is sitting at an outside table close to a swamp eating pizza and dousing it with hot sauce. A mosquito lands on his arm, feeds, flies off, and explodes.

 

That sounds like a good idea, some folk may go for that, one good thing at my bank, their Coin Machine is Free.

My bank here in Louisiana has closed their lobby, while some of the other banks have allowed customers in. My bank will open the doors for me to use the coin counter and visit my safe deposit box.

 

My bank removed all of their coin counters a few years ago. If I have change to cash in, I need to use my wife's bank, but I have to use her account otherwise they take 10% of the final tabulation. Feels a little like Ebay.

 

So ewomack, you bring the bank, just say, $100 in coins and they give you $100 in different coins...and charge you $10.00?.....Not sure how they can justify that

 

They consider it a "fee" for using their counting service, but it only applies to people who don't currently have accounts with that particular bank.

When my bank still had this service, I would put my change into the machine, watch it whir around for a few minutes, and then receive a receipt with the final tally. The receipt included 2 lines at the bottom, one said "TOTAL FOR ACCOUNT HOLDERS" and the second said "TOTAL FOR NON-ACCOUNT HOLDERS (-10%)" and the second line had 10% taken off. I would then take that slip to a teller and either deposit that amount or exchange it for cash. Since I was an ACCOUNT HOLDER I received the full amount.

That was how their process worked. I went through it many times. And yes, if you asked for cash or coins back and did not have an account, they would take off 10%.

 

I would switch banks......and maybe even rough up the male GM on the way out.

 

Mike my bank in Alabama has pretty much done the same thing, closed the lobby but if you call them and tell them you would like an appointment, they will give you an appointment to stop in and do what you need to do....
