Hi guys, Can someone help me determine if these lines on the obverse and reverse of the penny are die cracks ? I see 2 normal looking die cracks off the reverse rim at approximately 3 and 9 o'clock but I am not sure what the 2 parallel vertical lines are below the Lincoln Memorial? See close up photo..
The Obverse issue looks like a neat Die Crack. I'm not to sure about the lines on the Reverse side. Interesting!
One person said that it looks like a 'spike head' error on the Obverse. But I thought Spike Heads only occur on Dimes?
Incorrect.. Here are listings for Spike Heads on Cents 1990 - 1999 http://cuds-on-coins.com/lincoln-cent-spike-heads-1990-1999/ They are hundreds of Spike heads for many denominations!
If you have a person on a coin, any coin, and a die crack occurs to the head, what would you call it? They are all known as spiked heads.
Ok I got it! Thanks for clarifying. So the obverse is a spike head. So what is happening with the Reverse of this coin? What kind of error is that?
Here are a few more photo's so you can see that the lines are raised. So my question is, what is this? Trying my best to show good photo's of this error!
