Dentistry is a better field than medicine generally when it comes to income. But I am seriously considering specializing in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. That is a 6 year program after dental school which results in an MD as well as specialty certification. It's really the only route into that field.

 

so you have to complete medical school or the dental school can give you the Doctor of Medicine Degree. My Uncle is a pioneer in implant surgery, but I don't think he has an MD.
