Grading If I wanted to sell the coins I listed today (1910s,1912s,1913s and the 1914s) would it be best to use the greysheet and take them to my local dealer or should I have them graded by a company and then sell them?
I have not seen any yet worth the cost of slabbing and most of the coins I have seen are corroded so the greysheet is nearly useless. I don't know what your rating on eBay is so it is kind of hard to give you a solid answer. With a good rating and an honest dealer, I would guess that you would be a little better off on eBay, but the difference may not be worth your time. However, your dealer may be the biggest variable in their. That may not be the answer you are looking for, but it is the best I can give you.
Thank you rlm for all the time you are spending with me and my questions. I have not sold a thing on ebay. I just got my first greysheets the other day because that is what the coin dealer used when he bought my buffalo nickles, so my novices thoughts were that the cents may be worth the bid price in the grey sheets, is that correct?
The ones without corrosion should be worth about the bid price on the greysheet - if you can agree with the grade. I do not know your dealer from Adam, but there are many ways they (at least some of them) can take you. Maybe if you posted you area, some one could recommend a good dealer. I am not familiar with your area at all.
Thank you rlm's I live in San Bruno California just outside of San Francisco. I was using a dealer in Burlingame but if someone knows of another honest one I would love it. I would dislike being had.
I'll say XF-40 on the 1913-S (a very nice coin might I add IMO! :thumb, and VF-30 on the 14-S, damaged with corrosion. Phoenix
LOL. :thumb: VG and F on the 14-S guys? I see a separation in the cheek, and those stalks look to nice to me to go only a F? I could be way off, but I think it's just bad pictures (no offense Sherri!). JMO Phoenix
whatever NGC has a conservation program and if the coin is valuable enough they can probably remove the corrosion. :loud:AS for COINFREAK's dad...well... I pray for him every day, :secret:twice on Saturdays :thumb: :loud:
