I've never seen any doubling in any ASE...I'd send it in anyway.

    That *?!%#@! Silver Eagle

Okay everyone, the case is busted wide open.

Thank all of you for your continuing efforts to bring this coin to justice.
In a closed session before a higher court it was discovered that this coin is an impostor... a lowly bullion coin without the West Point credentials it needed to be a real proof coin. The court appreciates your service, the jury is now excused.

jeankay, look at the one on the CONECA web site. http://conecaonline.org/content/teaser.html It has machine doubling. If this link won't work, go to the CONECA web site and put "silver eagle" in the search box. there will be two that will show, one is a "Struck Thru" and one is much like the one you have.

to the pro's not the grader, as Doug suggested. If Doug takes the time to help you you should act on his words.

October 09, 2008 -- William Anderson of SC sent in a 1995 American Silver Eagle that shows Strike Doubling on the date, upper exergue, bottoms of both of Miss Liberty's sandals and Adolph Weinman's, designer initials.....

    Mr B,
I checked out the site and have no idea how to approach the experts to send this in.
Call me stupid, but these things are not always obvious to those who have never done it.
    I will check it again.

Good luck with the eagle, I believe you will find a lot of information you can use and learn from on the CONECA site.
    Glad we could help.
