    Hi!

I ordered several of the presidential dollar coins on the card but am very disappointed in the "package", so I want to remove them.

Are the coins held in place with some sort of glue? They don't move around in the package, but the cello (I don't know what its called :) ) is pretty flimsy and distorts the view.

Usually those type of packages are in two parts with the coin sandwiched in between. You should be able to peel them apart easy enough.

I hope so! I am ready to get them out of that container; just waiting on my order from JPs :)

    I am an idiot!
I see what you mean about being sandwiched in the package. Had no idea you're could take off the outer package!
    LOL! Live and learn!

    hard to remove

why not buy proof coins from proof set. it is easier to open it up.

I bought the proof sets too. I thought these looked cool at usmint.gov so I ordered them all and now that I removed that ugly plastic wrap I will leave them on the card - much prettier than I first thought; I am very happy with them now and will continue to buy them in the future.

I think the individual President proof coins were on the mints discontinue list.

Does this mean they won't have new ones on the card next year? Or they just won't be selling the older items?

It never hurts to ask a question. What seems obvious to one may not be so for someone else.

True! The other day I openned the one of my 2008 proof boxes and discovered that there are actually coins in there... :goofer: :D

Bummer. The card would fit perfectly in that (2.5x3.5).
Any links to a card holder that's not made of polypropylene or that would be safe for storing the card?
    Many thanks!

    What's wrong with polypropylene?

It's not polypropylene that have to worry about, it's PVC.

What you want are Mylar pages, you can find them here - JP's Corner

GD, thank you, I have ordered the 2x2 archival sheets from JP's based on your input from another thread; but I cannot tell from the descriptions what would be 2.5 x 3.5. I will give them a call tomorrow.

FTR, the pages from amazon.com I linked to earlier are made from polypropylene, and if I understood your comment you said they might have PVC (which I should avoid). Am I correct there?
    Thanks again.

Ok. Sorry for the inconvenience. I just googled "polypropylene vs. pvc" and see they appear to be separate products. I am learning a lot and now I know not to call it "Plastic" :)
