A neighbor asked me to ID/value a collection. I can handle US coins. And I have the Krause catalog for 19th century non-US coins. But I have no resource for these two coins (Net search didn't really help). Netherlands, I believe. (Apparently they were also referred to as New York Pennies.) Please give me a short description and a value.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dutch_East_India_Company_coinage I actually have several of these. From what I can tell, they typically sell in the $5-$15 range which sounds about right based on what I paid for mine. Unfortunately yours are in less-then-stellar condition and would probably be on the lower end of that range.
Top coin = 1746 Duit Netherlands East Indies Utrecht (The third number can't be a 1 because this type was minted until 1741) https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces6585.htmlUtrecht Second Coin = 1744 Duit Netherlands East Indies Zeeland https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces7593.html Too bad your coins are in rough condition. I've seen coins like that in $1 pick boxes at shows. I would estimate that in avg circulation, they would be around $5 each. Sorry I couldn't give you better news
@kanga - If you find yourself in a similar situation again, these are the resources you need to get answers about world coin values. https://www.coinarchives.com/ https://www.acsearch.info/
