I found the following on eBay:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Very-Nice-1804-Draped-Bust-Silver-Dollar_W0QQitemZ180307409647QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCoins_US_Individual?hash=item180307409647&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

This coin is clearly a Chinese counterfeit. It's extremley rare,It's from China, need I say more? the seller has 2 negatives and 1 neutral of less than 50. all of them complain that the coins are fake. please help me report this and the seller's other items. THANK YOU.[IMG]T[IMG][IMG]

I'm starting to get really sick of this ****. Reported, but I will say that a few of those bidders should have known better.

Oooh, a flowing hair dollar in VF/XF for $300? Wow, and look it's in China and sold as-is! Oh no, it's counterfeit, oh wow!

    A fool and his money..

I expect that with active reporting, plus seller's poor fb, a NARU may be coming soon..

Just to add fuel to the fire, is this one any less counterfeit? I don't know from Adam. That is a serious question.

Yes, that 1802 is a fake also. Besides the general mushiness and the 'Beijing mint frost,' the fields are way too smooth and on a 'worn' coin there is a rim you could cut a finger on.
They also do a good bit of recutting of their dies, and as a result the outlines of things like the hair curls and the hair ribbon aren't right. It's a Gestalt sort of thing with these forgeries.

This seller also has fake Spanish Colonial reales for sale. Typical looking Chinese counterfeits.

    who's to blame?.

don't buy any too cheap stuffs that you knew it was a rare coin. that will prevent you from being buying a fake one.

as far as i know. all chinese fake coins were selling around u.s.$0.10-$0.33 each. no matter what sizes. then came the middlemen either from u.s. or abroad. they put it on e-bay and sell it what ever they wanted or whatever the buyers wish to pay them. simple as that.
