Group shot of my first, it's upgrade, and the upgrade to the upgrade:

I just love the Bust design. Very nice coin you have.

I am guessing upgrades went clockwise? Both lower ones very nice.

This is one area where I have had very little experence and have never owned coin from this era. All the Bust Dimes I have owned were from the the 1820s and '30s.

Yeah, bottom left seems the nicest to my eye.

I think I prefer the top coin over the bottom right. The bottom right has overall more detail, but I find the mar across the eagle/shield distracting. Nice coins.

I'd pick lower left as the nicest one, if I had to pick just one.

Yes, the one at the top was the first example I got. The one on lower left was the last and best. I was very lucky to find it not so long ago.

1809 is the first date of the type with a low mintage of only 51,065.
It is the second scarcest date after 1822. 200-300 are estimated to exist.
It has always been very popular with collectors of early dimes - ten years ago or so there was a regular run on these where it seemed like every collector wanted one and prices were very high. It seems to have calmed down a bit in the last few years.

I agree with the small black dog.

I actually like the bottom right the best. The dark streak on the back is distracting but other than that the color is better than the bottom left which to me appears cleaned.

    ...a deep gouge.

You're right it is a gouge.

    I still like it better.
