Somewhere this 1977D nickel was in hiding.
I received in change just this morning from a 7-11
It is sharp, shiny and crisp and just had to come from a opened recent roll??
It has decent visible steps but I just can't get a good pick.
I wan't to go back to the 7-11 and ask for his nickels:eek:

No, I now live mostly in a town known for alot of down and out people. Even though i'm a known customer I don't have the nerve to ask to see the change draw:(
If I were at my home in Brookline which is next to Boston for some reason I wouldn't sweat it to ask.
Iv'e had a account at my Brookline bank since the 60's when my Mom and Pops would fill the Quarter and Dime books for my college fund..
I just might ask were they get there change though??

Is the nickel that dark? I can't see the steps and it looks nice but with a number of bag marks.

No it's on the shinier side. I'm using a cup type magnifying glass with a flashlight pointed at the side and I take pic's of the top with my cheap flip cell phone.
I'l try a open pic but it's shinier in person than it looks.
The steps are there, maby 5 counting the top that I see, i'm not sure just how many steps are in the dies? Not really AU quality I think, maby XF??
    My high tech setup LOL!

The nickel coin, being made of a harder metal than most other coins, seems to hold up well in circulation. While it is 43 year old coin, I imagine it was out of circulation more than in, hence a better looking nickel, but NAV IMO. It's always fun to find coins like this. I was floored to find the below in circulation a couple of years ago, and no, it was not during the Great American Coin Hunt.

Yup for sure the Nickel content in the coin did it's thing, but,,,,,,,,,,,,,
wow! that's a sweet find.. We have the eye or "sense" to notice a coin like that instantly in our change. That one quarter you show though is so so nice it might of just blended in.
Thanks for showing it.:) I think I posted a while ago of similar silver quarter in my change. Kinda funny cause I found it in change from a private owned store pretty much next to the 7-11 I got the nickel from.

Is it the picture, or does this quarter have a off center punch?

Hey  I specifically left Lynn out because I used to live there, lol :) I still go there a couple of days a week for work.

Never be afraid/ashamed to talk to the retail clerk about what change they may have in their drawer. As long as you aren’t creepy/sketchy about it, and not impeding their business, it’s not a big deal. As always, though, discretion is advised.

Also, there is a church in Lynn that has a couple of stained glass windows that were designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens (yes, that ASG). I’ve wanted to get inside and take a couple of pics, to post on this site, but have yet to do it, obviously.

Wow, I had to google Augustus Saint Gaudens.. Has to be beautiful.

Iv'e been to Lynn for visits with relatives but it's been a long time.
Also I believe a Greek Orthodox Church there a few times.. Greek Churches are very Gaudy and shinny brassy for the most part... My father was a good painter from a child. He painted alot of Icon's for Churches and also did alot of glass mosaic type portrait's of Jesus and the Virgin Mary.
He would shatter and crumble colored glass and I guess fill in his charcoal sketch's and bake it in a kiln. The pic I posted of one of his works doesn't do justice, plus it's alot bigger and so much heavier than it might look.

Yes though;)I just might ask the clerk at the local 7-11. He's actually the manager and we have talked a little. He's over worked and a bit stresed because he just can't keep employee's with this covid issue. He tells me they rather have unemployment now..
It would help I think to show him coin pics from my phone so he just might understand.
