Got this 1884 CC Morgan today. Was wanting to get your grade and value opinions please. I’m at work so can’t do internet search yet. Thanks in advance.
Ordinarily, if someone told me they only paid $53 for it, I would throw up a red flag and think it was counterfeit or stolen. I don't see anything glaringly wrong with it, and it would probably grade 63. It does have the remnants of a die clash on her lips and near the "cap vee". ~ Chris
Well $53 is kind of misleading. What I did was buy a roll of B/U Morgan’s for $1065. I knew it had a CC ender and took a chance. Thus $53 per coin. Along with it are 5 1921 P, 1 1887 P ,1 1898 O, 2 1884 O, 2 1882 O, 1 1898 P 1 1885 O,1 1886 P, 1 1904 O, 1 1889 P, 2 1887 P, 1 1880 S. Going to take me awhile yo figure out if I did OK. But the 1884 CC makes me think I did ok.
Thanks everybody for your input! I appreciate it. Now I need to figure out what VAM is and if it's important!
The field immediately adjacent to the lips looks like a clash, the ding on liberty's upper lip looks like a little bit of damage maybe.
Thank you ATCARROLL. Thats what I was thinking. The spikes coming up from the top of the bottom lip and the area under the bottom lip look raised to me. But I wasn't sure if it could be a clash or not. I appreciate your input! Thank You~
The upper lip is part of the clash, too. It's from the last bunch of leaves on the left edge of the righthand wreath. I used to own numerous Morgans with that clash. ~ Chris
Hate to resurrect this old thread, But I think this is a VAM 4. Just looking for confirmation......Also. Would being a VAM 4 and having numerous areas with a die clash increase the value of this coin or not. Thank you all for helping! @cpm9ball @messydesk @atcarroll
Doesn't look like VAM 4 to me http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/wiki/1884-P_VAM-4
Thank You. The one you showed was an 1884 P . The one I'm asking about is an 1884 CC. http://ec2-13-58-222-16.us-east-2.compute.amazonaws.com/wiki/1884-CC_VAM-4
