This is the "triple blossom" VAM 44 A. Had this one since '85. ANACS AU58. Bought it from Bill Fivaz.
I have most of the Morgans (except for 3) but have never seen that variation. Nice. Looking at that I decided to photo all of mine for the record.
The 7 over 8 Tail feathers varietynos just on the Philadelphia issue. It was caused by the doubling on the tail feathers.
Mike, you're young. I've been buying them as an alternative to silver bullion as the Morgan and Peace Dollars have .7734 ounces of silver. I'm not sure how many I have but it's over 1000 of them.
Nice thought. I am not buying any new coins at this stage in life. But, I do like to organize and display what I have accumulated over my 77 year lifespan. I just don't have any idea how to go about doing that.
Nice coin, the early reverse I think with the flat almost concave eagles breast and the straight top arrow feather. Not an expert so someone correct me please if I am reading the foto wrong, never too old to learn something
They are 3 reverses for the 1878 Morgan Dollar. The first reverse has 8 tail feathers. The second reverse has seven tail feathers and the third reverse has seven tail feathers. The second reverse has a parallel top arrow feather with the concave breast. The third reverse has a slanted top arrow feather with a convex breast. This is according to the Red Book. Hope this makes it easily understandable for you.
My wife had to explain your comment. She turns 70 later this year. She said that it was a compliment, thank you. She said something about "OG". Googled it and it is short for Original Gangster ?!? I thought it was Old Geezer.
