Found this in pocket change. It weighs 4.7 and has deep overlapping edges. Didn't want to clean it but I can see some other anomalies on it. Just curious what the pros think of it.
There have been many posts showing the same issue as your quarter. The reply is always the same. Your coin sat in some acidic substance causing the copper core to erode more than the c/n outer layers.
DEFDAM - Definitely Damaged Harsh chemical is correct. It damaged the Cupro-Nickel clad layer and corroded the inner copper away around the edge.
My apologies for posting a thread under the forum "coin talk" instead of searching through previous posts. I've only been collecting for a year and I know some questions from the inexperienced can seem annoyingly menial but I appreciate the straight forward replies from the advanced numismatics on here. Not to waste anyone's time i only post when I have genuine questions and expect honest answers. Ty for your replies!
@Coin Queen. You don't have to apologize. Nothing wrong with starting a new thread no matter how many times the same issue was brought up. Sometimes it's not easy to use the search bar, especially when you don't know how to explain your question.
