An oldie but goodie. Found this CRH dimes a few years ago near Syracuse NY. 1/2 real Mexico mint 1796

 

Some of my Mexican Silver

 

Mexican coins are among my favorites, so well designed and timeless. My gold 50 Peso is in the safe deposit box, in a closed bank (pretty safe), but I have my silvers. I don't clean them, I just keep them.

 

This one has a Mexico City mint mark.

 

I mostly collect Spanish colonial 8 reales, many minted in Mexico City, but I don't really consider them coins of Mexico no matter how convenient it may be for catalogers to group them that way.

Here's an 8 reales issued as a newly independent nation.

 

A crusty silver 10 centavos from 1885.

 

I like the deep copper color of this 20 centavos 1971.

 

30% silver. I like the way some of these issues look when they are a bit circulated...

 

I don't specifically collect Mexican coins but I have a fair number of them, mostly common modern pieces that I haven't photographed yet. Here are some of my nicer coins though.

What, no emperor Maximilian I of Mexico? Always wanted that coin but they are very expensive
