Howdy fellow coin peeps, While the following isn't a coin, it's being sold as bullion, which qualifies for this forum since many of you buy bullion items: http://search.ebay.com/search/searc...trt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=32&fsoo=2 These are now showing up all over Ebay (foreign Ebays) and being sold with misleading descriptions. So beware, these are HGE (heavy gold electroplate) and not bullion! They are worth about 5 cents each, if that! Ribbit
They do mention gold plated but it is rather misleading. This is the kind of crap that people bring into the store and we tell them we're not interested.
That just may be an effort to add some keywords for the eBay search feature. (i.e. "scrap gold" and "gold bullion".)
Wow, that really is bad. They are only asking $3 for them...just say they are gold plated ornaments in the title...people will still pay $3 for them to hang on their tree. This is a case where you would be just as successful by not burying the honest fact that they are plated deep within the wordy description and implying they aren't by using the word "bullion."
This is also a scam waiting to happen: http://cgi.ebay.com/Eisenhower-Doll...ryZ39475QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Very misleading IMO.
I don't know if it really is...they do seem to talk about the slots for coins the album has an awful lot but there is no pictures of coins in the ad...so I think it's fine personally.
Here's another seller that's selling the same fake gold bars, and then some: http://shop.ebay.de/merchant/travis.smiley By what I can tell, that seller's store is full of gold plated garbage, being scammed out with misleading listings. Run! :vanish: Ribbit
The title is "Eisenhower Dollars 1971 - 1978 With Proofs Coin Album" and the coins are listed with SILVER in bold. Just rubbed me the wrong way.
Me too but it is borderline and I'll give the seller the benefit of doubt. Look at the last seller I posted and the garbage they are pawning off. (insert barfing smiley here) Ribbit
Toad there's 4 minutes left better buy some they reallyare a good deal barf all over here . rzage:smile
Here is an item sold by Mr. Smiley: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230305734791 The problem is it was listed as being a real South Africa coin, when it is not: http://cgi.ebay.com/1978-KRUGERRAND...D-BU-usgr_W0QQitemZ220267800527QQcmdZViewItem A real Krugerrand is solid gold (bullion) so it being described as real, is a flat out lie! This seller is flooding German Ebay with worthless junk and I don't know how they can afford the listing fees? Nonetheless, he is scamming peeps with many of his listings. Ribbit
Ps: Check out Mr. Smiley's profile page: http://myworld.ebay.de/travis.smiley Anyone know someone at the Department of the Treasury? I believe what he's done is violative of Federal Law (impersonating the U.S. Treasury Department)! Ribbit
HT: I loved the description: SIZE: 10 mm diameter Weight: .5 Grams Gold: Fine Brass Dated: 1978 Hmm, gotta buy some of that Gold: Fine Brass.
Here's one for ya'll: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=380080354261&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=025 It is clearly a counterfeit and a poor one to boot. I messaged the seller several times, as did others, and the only Q&A posted was one pathetic question. The seller also used the private auction format, so that tells me they knew up front it was a counterfeit and were making sure no one could interfere. Sellers like this are pathetic and no matter what goods they are peddling, I won't ever buy from them! Neither should you! :vanish: Ribbit
And what an odd question to ask too... I guess the bidder didn't know that Lincoln's are made out of zinc now, because he didn't specify a date?
