I apologize if there already is a thread on this topic. I searched the World Coin forum using Mexico but came up blank for a dedicated thread. So because I live so close to Mexico and have been lucky enough to pick up some nice examples at reasonable prices, I thought I would share. Please feel free to add yours as well. First up is a toned 1940 20 centavos. I have posted this one before but just took new pictures. Better but a work in progress on my set up.
I have some, here's one of my favorites! Mintage was only 2000 it's a 1993 Brasero Efigie Coin aka: the God of Rain Coin. This isn't the Proof but to me it's just as good!
Here's an 8 Reales from 1883 M.H., it's a beauty! Has some wear on both sides but it's really a clean example!
Here's my only Un Peso 1926, nice silver coin! Actually, I may have another one but if I do it's not as nice as this one!
Ah, a bada$$ Zapata time period 10 Centavos, nice one Razz! Here's a plain Jane 1983 Silver Libertad and the second one is a 1993 Piedra De Los Soles Proof Coin with the Aztec Calendar and the tiny tongue face man in the center!
Here is a thread from not to long ago. It has some nice Mexico coinage. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/mexican-coins.306271/#post-2914604. And here is one of my recent pickups.
Yep, chingon style sideburns! There's a gold version of that 1957 @Steve66 up there as well as I was following one on the bay today, link below. Here's my 1896 F.Z. 8 Reales, this is the nicest one I've ever owned so it's one that I'll probably get graded at some point, looks way better in hand! https://www.ebay.com/itm/1957-GOLD-...ITUTIONAL-COIN-CHOICE-MINT-STATE/333624075955
Just as an fyi the two silver 1993's up there are listed in the for sale forum, if anyone is interested! Here's my only gold 2009 Libertad I bought last year, the slab has scratches on it but even as a PF68 it's a beauty! Mexican gold coins have gotten really pricey. Ten years ago, it wasn't like that at all and not too many people wanted Mexican gold, now they can't get enough!
I have a lovely 1932 1 Peso. i was so excited I tore it out of the 2x2 and left a nasty staple scratch on the obverse. Wow.
Here's a link to a write up I did back in 2014. A lot of the coins have been upgrade since and the collection expanded. Information is still relevant. I have been able to complete the type set to include the current coins since. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/estados-unidos-mexicanos-a-history-of-modern-coinage.249575/
