Since I’m learning from past experiences I’ve decided to ask the experts here a question. I found 3 early wheat cents at my hometown lcs. They are all in high g-4 to f-12 condition. They are a 1911s,1912s, and a 1915s. Which one is harder to find? Or should I say which one would you by first? The 11 and 12 are $20 each. The 15 is $49. Thanks
Although I am all for giving business to my LCS. I use eBay sold listings to find a real world price,.....that is what they are selling for. Grade has everything to do with it. I checked on your 1911 and 1915 ...seems like the 1911 is selling higher then the 1915. On ebay you can see the coin and compare it to the ones at the LCS to find a similar grade and what it is selling for.
I see very few 1915 S that are sold higher then your LCS is asking. I see a lot of 1911 S selling higher then your LCS is asking. in fact I see very few 1911 S sold for under $20. But buy what makes you happy.
Yeah ebay is usually the lowest prices and the LCS always prices higher for huge profits. $49 is a lot for an ungraded coin, especially a wheat. For me, more than $35 should be slabbed to make sure I don't get scammed or lose money.
Thanks for the replies. This all helps me make a decision. All my coins are being held long term. What’s difficult to find today may be near impossible in 15 or 20 years. I leaning towards the 1911s
