This is not my son’s birthday coin, but another one that has a pop of of 3/0. This one is a PR 67. Guessing am collecting registry sets of UK decimal coins now!
What is this Pop 3/0 Does it mean there have only been 3 graded ? 1977 there were 193,000 proof sets issued, I'm sure many of them are still intact. I have 10 sets from each year.
Very nice! The earlier decimal coinage I collect is usually far more circulated- especially the 5p, 10p and 50p coinage from the late 60s/ early 70s.
That’s great. You haven’t certified any of the coins, so we have no idea how they grade. That is right it is top 3 ever certified at that grade. I have plenty of intact proof sets also.
Ah just an American thing then. Why pay to have them certified, mine are proof sets still sealed, they grade Proof.
The first number is the number graded in that grade the second number is the number graded higher. So in this case there are 3 67s with none graded higher. If you look at the full population it currently has 3 65s, 2 66s, and 3 67s
It is just a collector thing, mate. PCGS and NGC have had registry sets for years. Kind of cool to have a degree of exclusivity, with some non-expensive coins. I could never do it with many of my American coins, especially since NGC stopped accepting PCGS coins in their registries.
