Also, the 1864 Horses pulling Canons is about a $40-$50 note in decent condition. Lately, the price has been double that if not higher.

Interesting. I would have expected the opposite.

There are many important lessons to be learned from history, even from the Confederacy. The mistakes they made with their monetary system became unavoidable in the end, but early on, they could have been avoided. They issued too many notes with too many designs in 1861, and it led to trouble.

In a similar vein the research into “The Hunley,” the recovered Confederate submarine, has been amazing. The men who built that craft were decades ahead of their time. Yes, it was a deathtrap, but the shape of the boat, the ballast system and the smoothness of the rivets that connected the plates in the hull were all features that would appear on submarines 50 years later. They even toyed with the idea of using a primitive electric motor to power it. Although they couldn’t perfect such a device, it is amazing that they thought of it.

Its a shame people are so uneducated about the cause and effect of the civil
war, everybody want to link it to slavery, only one of many issues by the way
tearing down statues and trying to rename military bases is so over board
I just have to shake my head, people trying to destroy the past, its just plain
wrong ! just heard on the radio that the country group "Dixie Chicks" has just
changed there name to just the Chicks, what's next....

What's next? Please don't ask. You might regret what comes to fruition.

I say that out of frustration, I am a huge NASCAR fan or atleast i was, taking the heart
sole of the sport ( the confederate flag ) this
sport was born in the south, so by doing the
above you are taking away the heart and
    sport :(

Yes, NASCAR grew out of the “bootlegger” Prohibition era when folks built fast cars to outrun the government agents. Hence they had a “rebel” aspect to them. A young guy “yelled” at me when I posted that fact on a political site, but that is the historical fact.

Well if the people outside waiving the confederate flags is any indication
    I would say not

"Rebel" a person who rises in opposition or armed resistance against
    an established government or ruler.

I am waiting for UNLV ( University of Nevada Las Vegas ) to change there
logo and the Rebel insignia, it will be a sad, sad day when that happens I will
    tell you :(

I don't think UNLV's logo is related to the Confederacy, they were a Union State, admitted to the Union during the Civil War, the state flag motto is Battle Born...

As to the current insanity, you have a generation that has inherited copious wealth and knowledge and has no concept what to do with it except tear it down because of this generation's ignorance and inadequacy. All generations want to overthrow their fathers and invent the world new, the Oedipus complex is real - but this current generation is disassociated from itself, it's elders, it knows no outlet but an expression of childish tantrums. Like idle hands, idle minds are the Devil's workshop...

I completely agree, but there new logo as well as the old suggest otherwise
I will post it below, Confederate style type hat and handlebar mustache along
with top uniform which looks confederate to me, screams southern gentleman
would be more then easy for some bleeding hart to make an argument to
have the name changed to something else.

Interpretation being the key word here, think its way to close for someone to
    make the jump.
