Hello all I decided to practice some more today on taking photos of some of my coins. I have some coins I just can not ever get a good photo of. Here are a few of some that I never seem to get good photos of from todays attempt. What are some of the photo apps you use ?
Those are nice photo's. To make an image of the coin's obverse and reverse together, and add a background and so on, I use pixlr. Works perfectly for a total amateur like me. It seems to me however, that the quality of the photo gets lesser after editing. And by editing I mean cutting, cropping and adding background and text, not changing the photo itself. Here's an original photo. Here it is after editing:
I cannot photo worth crap, but I attempt it. When I edit, stitch, etc., I use photoscape X. Free. http://x.photoscape.org/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PhotoScape
I do 100% of my photography and editing on my phone, and I use an app called ZomboDroid, and it does pretty well. Very intuitive and easy to use, but the downside is you can't really resize your photos (for forums with a 128/300kb upload limit) and the most recent update changed the ads from an unintrusive banner to a 5 second pop-up every 10-20 photos that you edit. Still better than any alternative I've tried.
Thank you @Limes I never have used pixlr, I have only used paint and snip image. I think I will try it to see how to put a background on my pics. I am not the fastest at learning these kind of apps but after a few trys I hope I can get it figured out.
It's free, and there are lots of tutorials online. Take a bit of time, and you'll get the hang of it.
Thank you @Finn235 My phone is so bad and out dated I do not even think I should even try till I get a new phone. Your app looks like it does a nice job.
I am terrible.. its frustrating. At this point I have decided to just use my iPhone as I don't have any sort of good digital camera... and I don't think adding a $500 camera will help me anyway. I downloaded 2 free Apps.. one called "Camera Plus" which seems to zoom in well and has some features to reduce camera shake (timers, etc). I then use an App called "FrameMagic" which crops and merges the photos quickly right on my phone. So I am still producing poor photos but now I achieve this feat quickly and easily.
I use Adobe Photoshop and a camera box called ShotBox. It works really well and the pictures come out amazing. https://www.picturesandstories.com/news/2016/3/8/shotbox-
I use Adobe Lightroom if I want to be really serious about it for editing, but usually just preview for Mac for both cropping and editing. I then use PhotoPad for making the collage, and a final edit. Just took these two (sorry, they’re modern...)
Wondering if anyone here could put some kind of a background on one of my pics from my first post just to see how much better it would look. Would really appreciate it and it might just give me the motivation to learn how.
Here is what I get with my $40 set up. I have never tried to edit any or put any special lighting up. Since I am not writing or publishing I just take a picture and post it if need be. The Morgan is on the plate below the microscope and the view is on the monitor.
I don’t think you’re terrible at all, but I believe your pics would look better if you would round crop the images and get a uniform background, like this?
Wow that is awesome now I got to try this! You took a boring plain photo and made it just stand out at you.
