Weird wear pattern. Isn't the breast a highpoint? Don't see much there, but tail feathers look worn. Then the reverse, which looks like a different coin. I would be at EF given that reverse. Edit: But then....it has great luster like its never been circulated. Does everyone think this was a horrible strike, grease filled die, or something? I would like to hear from a early small cent guru. Weird coin to grade. I think the OP is messing with us.
There has to be something with the strike / die as the letters on the obverse are messed up, too. Deteriorated dies and this is actually MS?
XF 45 I'm a bit conservative when it comes to grading. When I sold coins on eBay, buyers probably got a good deal because of it.
There does not seem to be any edge wear on either side that matches the rest of the coin. I think was struck with debris filled, worn dies on both sides. It seems to be an uncirculated coin.
