I both love and hate 1921 Peace Dollars. I love them because they are beautifully high relief and I hate them because they are often poorly struck and really hard to grade in photos.

So, here is my thoughts on this coin. It looks like it has a pretty good strike for a 1921 Peace Dollar...not fully full, but good. I think the little weakness in the hair is not wear. I also know you already have an AU 1921 Peace (from a previous thread that was downgraded by PCGS) so I doubt you would own two AUs. I know that's silly logic...but I'm going to go with it.

The coin has beautifully clean fields. There is a little nick on the neck on the obverse but I see what looks like a pretty good hit on the Eagle's wing on the reverse. I think that really limits the grade of an otherwise superb coin.

I would call this MS65 without that hit on the wing. But with it there...I'm gonna say it limits the grade to MS63.

Also, I see that one person voted AU58 so far. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it was Doug.

The 1921 Peace Dollar is one of the toughest to determine wear vs weak strike, AU vs BU, but this coin has a crusty patina that seems to further blur the line by mimicking friction in the fields. I think what appears to be a fingerprint behind her eye and a hairline in the left obverse field in front of her forehead pushed me to say:

    AU58

Nope, it was me, literally the furthest person from Doug with respect to grading coins.

No worries Paul. It's just a joke between me and @Morgandude11.

LOL. I think this one is a bit more baggy but I don't see any obvious wear. The eye appeal isn't great in the photos...but it might be the photo. I'm thinking MS62 on this one because the obverse looks pretty marked up.

Then again...the luster on this coin looks pretty intense so that might make it look worse in the photos than it is in hand.

    But, MS62.

Appears to be a pretty good strike. From the details, I’m saying MS63.

I am at 58, depending on when it was graded it could be in a 62 slab.

I was between 58 and 62, but went conservative at 58

    Better than having a 1923 and thinking it's a 1928.
This is a difficult coin to grade as it appears to have wear,
but the photos are not great and it's in a holder.
No grade until I can see it better.

Given the details in the nape of the eagle and the feathers along with the strike for the hair and behind the cap I would lean toward MS 63. I am having a difficult time telling luster from the photos but I bet it is there, so I'll stick my neck out there for the 63.

MS62, limited by hits and luster.

I often disagree with the slab grade on these, and I assume the problem is mine. But going with what I think I see, AU58.

It is a classic slider, and most got that right. Graded AU 58, and on another day, could grade as high as 62. It has golden toning, and a pretty look to it.
