Are you doing it because the coin is dipped?I zoomed in on the new photos and im sure it looks like a die crack to me, and there's another one left from bottom on the neck were alot of these cracks occur on the peace dollars. The ones that you indicated in black are not structured like the ones i indicated. they are lines on the field and do not appear to be abrasions in that area . just my opioin of course

I have a '62 lincoln from a mint set that has toning around a contact mark like that. In the big picture it looks like a contact mark and in the other it looks like toning. It's because of the angles.

Unless it's a VAM I'm going with a contact mark on the left through the N and the neck and hair are cracks.

BTW I think he said this coin isn't his so if he nabbed it off a site (looks like HA.com) it very well could be a 67/8.

I'm going with a MS-66. I see the die cracks on the obverse, however the on above IN looks to be more than a die crack. Other than that their are a few marks on the next, one in the hair and one in the eagle that I see. None of these take away from the coin IMO, however technically they do effect the grade and I could see it going MS-65*. Coin looks great, send it my way.

it could also possibly be over/undergraded

Because grading should be done with the naked eye and not magnification ?

True, with that being said maybe I need to up my grade. From the last set of pics it looks likethe other MS-67 that I have seen so maybe NGC did give it the MS-67 grade. BTW Leigh where's the color? Thought you're all about the tone. :D

Finally I stumble on a thread without the grade revealed yet. I'll go 66 because I see it's a new holder and they are tight these days.

I would think the coin looks better in hand.
