Well Crud. Just When You Think 2020 Couldn't Suck More

Just went to my pick up bank today to get my weekly 4 boxes of cents. Everything went fine but the vault manager told me that the Fed is now limiting orders due to them running short on coins. Starting next week, the branch will be limited to 2 boxes of cents. I told him I could stop ordering so as to help them out and not be a pain but he assured me that he didn't mind ordering. Just that some weeks I may get 2 boxes of cents and some weeks I may get one or none.

I haven't so much as seen a 2020 coin in the wild. Now it looks like I will see fewer coins over all.

It's only June. 2020 can suck it.

100% agree on that last one! Personally, I have had some great news in 2020, but I do say "some"...

I asked my cash logistics lady at my bank if she was being told she had to limit her coin orders and she had no clue what I was talking about. She is at Mechanics Bank.

Not sure where you are Furry, but I've gotten everything 2020-D for this year so far. I'm in California so I've gotten nothing 2020-P, of course. I'd be glad to ship the "D"s your way. I think I am only short a nickel right now from having an extra of everything this year.

 

I think it would be wise to save some 2020 coins. You never know, it might be like another 2009.

I’ve been lucky so far in the roll department. No boxes though. I can still get several rolls a day, I just have to exchange for them now (roll for roll). Good thing I have a large supply rolled. Only D’s here.

 

@furryfrog02 ......My bank told me the same thing. Then I found this......

 

@Beardigger good thing I've been ordering lots of cent boxes from them for the last year or so. Keeps it so that they are at least allocated 2 boxes a week.

 

@furryfrog02 You should probably ask them if they want you to trade your searched rolls for their new rolls so they don't run low. Might solve both problems!

 

Unfortunately, all my stuff is unwrapped. I do happen to have like 15 boxes of solid 2019P cents. I might see if they will switch some boxes with me.

 

I'm between DC and Baltimore and haven't seen a single 2020 in the wild. I have 2 "D" Bats that @TexAg was awesome enough to send my way.
I am amazed though. I've been searching rolls since 2012 and always got the new year's coins around Feb/Mar time frame.

 

hmmmm.....sounds like a good project for the kids. Learning to count to 50 and all......

Today I tried my most reliable bank where a friend is the manager...can't even get a roll from them right now. Down to my only 2 options of family business account bank that are rude when I order coins and a roll or two a shift at work. Looks like my 2020 W quarter goals just shrunk significantly.

 

I might start advertising to buy peoples change on Craigslist or something at this point. Must...get...coins...
