Congrats! You have a (RPD) Repunched Date and a nice one at that! I also have a Colombian 1 Centavos with a Repunched Date but mine is a 1969. Mine also has severe Die Clashing on both the Obverse and Reverse and as well as Die Breaks and Die Cracks. There seems to be a lot of these type Varieties and/or Errors in the 1 Centavos pieces! Frank
Hobo, I doubt that is is a counterfeit! I have a 1969 1 Centavos piece from Colombia with a much stronger RPD (i.e. 1969/969). Frank
Frank, You are obviously more familiar with these coins than me so I defer to you. I'm surprised that a modern government mint would issue a coin with such a flaw (although the 1955 DDO Lincoln Cent does come to mind).
Hobo, Maybe some of the Colombian Mint folks are snorting too much of another product produced there and which seems to get exported elsewhere...espcially to the United States! Frank
No problem. This coin reminded me a bit of a Chinese counterfeit someone posted here a few months ago. It was a Seated Lib Dollar with pretty dramatic reverse doubling in many of the letters near the rim.
