I've had my eye on this show for quite a while.
IMO there's a strong chance that it'll be a "go".

And I noticed one thing -- no Sunday session.
I don't know if this will be the first time for that.
I don't pay attention to Sunday so maybe this isn't the first time.
    I always go on Friday.
Saturday can be half empty; Sundays were an echo chamber.
As I understand it many dealers wanted to get back into their shop by Monday so Sunday travel was a pain.

I hope that it can be held safely in November. If they hold it, and if I'm convinced at that time it will be safe, I plan to attend. I usually try to attend the November Baltimore show, and it's close enough that I feel almost silly if I don't go.

This will be my first show, I really hope they are able to open. I will wear a flower in my lapel, so you can all say "hello" to me.

I think you are all whistling in the dark.

Study out today - small sample, but - says antibodies in asymptomatic people only last 2-4 months and not much longer in people who have symptoms.

You are already seeing another wave in states that have opened up and people are pretending the danger is past. More hospital admissions that when we closed down the state!

Until there is a vaccine that can give you a year's immunity, we are still going to have to deal with it. And it's not just a vaccine, we need the whole infrastructure to administer it. Including things as simple as the little glass vials to hold the vaccine. Corning glass is ramping up to produce 200M of them (which isn't enough for the US let alone the world). But they admit it might take a year to ramp up. Can you imagine the infrastructure necessary to administer a vaccine that needs a booster every 2 months?

I'm going to be careful and not go stupid.
    I've got two negatives:
    -- my age (78)
    -- I'm am ex-smoker

So far my wife and I have not stuck out necks out.
The grocery store is about a 2 mile round trip; we do that about twice a week.
And once or twice a week we do takeout for a meal; that's about an 8-10 mile round trip.
    So far, so good.

But I may have one positive.
    I'm Blood Type O.
They don't know yet for sure but current data says that I'm somewhere around 9% to 18% less likely to have a serious case.

If this happens, I'm going to attend. Might be the only big show to happen all year.

It's certainly possible that they won't be able to hold the show, I'm not saying that it will definitely happen. Making predictions is difficult, especially about the future ;)

I also am being very careful about my own health, and would never go if I was not convinced it would be safe. I have my own health issues that make me more susceptible to COVID-19 than average. I was hospitalized twice in the last two years with lung issues, I have zero desire for a third time.

It’s a crap shoot as far as how bad you’ll get it if you are exposed. There have been many young people who have died or have been hit so bad they almost died from it. I too wish I could have a nice day out at the Whitman show but I do understand. I hope it will go on in November but if it doesn’t then I truly understand.

The reason most dealers bug out on this show on Saturdy is finding air schdule that will work for them.
Case in point...a year ago I was resetting food stores in New England, now from BWI the flight was what an hour plus..
But I needed to bring other techs in to help get all the stores done.
I had several volunteers and some from the left coast....but heres the issue most dont realize...the time differenct and time traveled.
I had this one lady who I wouldn't allow her to come as her flight from home she need to leave at 9 pm west coast time the day before to get to Boston by morning....then her return was just as bad getting her in like 3 am the next day.
So logistics is Tough trying to get back and forth.
Does The penny lady still do the Baltimore show?
And yes Kanga you are correct about going Saturday or Sunday as it does empty out fast with dealers trying to get on the road home or catch a flight.
What most dont realize is BWI is a short trip down the BW pwy, 30 minuite...
Now if your talking Regan or Dulles your talking a road trip.
So yeah if your on holiday flying coast to coast thats not to bad...but ive done the red eye to many times and you need a day off just to get your body clock back insinc.

I know youre missing the Timonium show also.....it took a bit to get you to come....but as my memory serves me you quicly became a regular at that show,....i do miss the shows as well my dealer friends who like you and I older and paying for bad choices of our younger years.
I also recall your wife liked the crab soup lol.
Thats right....a coin show that had free bowl of Md crab.

One other point that troubles me...no matter Whitman or a small show....
How and the hell can it work?
I am in and out of food stores daily. I do my best to get in and out asap.
I use hand santizer going in, wash my hands ,on my way out...and sanatize again in my car.
Most havent got the memo.....for some reason they believe they are super beings ...i head one lady say "oh my immune system can fight off anything" tell that to the 100,000 plus who are now dead.
Every day i feel like im going behinde emeny lines to do my job and. Come home....every day I see these super people who again didn't get or read the memo.
Yesterday i stopped into Costco...while walking in out comes a man and woman no mask! Meanwhile everyone else is masked..be they going in or leaving.
Here in Maryland no mask no entry.
But how can a show work? You touch everything....
To be honest im gone cashless... and clean my credit card daily if used.
Thinking about this situiation daily...and for the life of me cannot come up with a way that would protect both dealer and customers.
Lastly being out in this every day beats you up,if youre smart enough to realize this isnt a drill it very real!
What disturbs me the most is having visited cities in ruins in South and central America, Mexico......you stand in a city that everyone who built it are gone.....and no reason why.....well how about a situiation as we deal with now. Where the entire city just up and died.....ending hundreds of years of these peoples lives.

I understand the need to find some way to get the economy moving again. I'll be working until I'm 90 to rebuild my retirement.

I'm also dismayed - we set various criteria for "reopening" and then as soon as they became difficult, we abandoned them.

You can see the results: https://91-divoc.com/pages/covid-visualization/ - all the graphs have turned back up.

My wife and I were like 18 month to 2 years from retirement.
Since my wife worked in a dental office for the last 30 some years....with the underlying health issues we have she didnt return....and of course her unemployment was cut as her office offer everyones job back and she declined....this is where she would of been better off working in a proctologlist office! BTW in and around Baltimore there are over 100 dental jobs.. as the asst's and Hygenist in many offices never returned.
Oh and just an FYI your next vist to the dentist be prepared to lay out another $75/100
Bucks...as the PPE cost will be passed on to you!
So we are now living on my salary...and her Social securty , which she was 1 year and 2 months from full benfits. My SS will start in August this year. TG
And back to unemployment both my wife and I have NEVER EVER have been unenployed....not 1 time .We both have been working since our teens.

So yeah Burton I get it...im not looking to finally stand down for god only knows how many years..TG I love my work...I must ...Ive been doing it for 54 years now.
But.... since my work takes me into many food stores in the Delmarva area.
I'm doing my best to maintain a safe distance and hand wasing til my hands feel like they will drop off!

    I'm carefully watching the trend.
We know the Southeast and Texas (and California?) are in trouble again.
Let's see how Oklahoma fares after Trump's visit.
If people don't suck it up and follow the medical guidance, November will end up as a "no go".
