Through i never buy on ebay any longer I still use their site for research ,price guide. ,as wsll love to cherry pick off the listings. I ran accross this 1851 O better date better mm. The mintages for Philly 781,000 New Orleans slightly higher 860,000 Working dies 1851 philly Obv. 7 and rev. 5 New Orleans 12 obv. 13 rev. I have no reference as to the number of proof strikes. Any educated guesses on this specimen? With the given data above ...lets here your thoughts.....? Who's going to say it? Your feed back on its grade even though its a raw specimen. @Nathan401
Well that would only be $399. + ship as i do not own this specimen....but will say this.....this specimen is definitely eye candy to a h 10 collector. 1851 o in Au. 55 $235 $500 in ms 60 ...i do not expect to grade....
I think that it is a really nice coin. Depending upon the luster, it's either a classic EF-45 or an AU. Unless they give your trouble over the toning, it's a slab AU, quite easily.
a 1857 proof strike....compare the strike on the 51 and the 57.. I believe that since Philly only struck a few 1851 proofs. That Philly mint sent proof dies to strike ms coins in New Orleans. Compare the gown as well the stars, face and neck line. Not saying it a proof strike impaired, but an obv. Proof die for sure. Again look at the cripness of dress folds, as well other devices. Not even the best specimens in my collection have anywhere the details and sharpnes. On ms coins.
