Die crack exposing zinc - rare? Shield Cent

Is it rare for a die crack to expose zinc? These are two different cents from a UNC roll, so I know it isn't damage. I have a 1993 spike head die crack cent where zinc is exposed along the entire crack, but this can't be a common occurrence.

Edit: I just found a coin from the same die with the crack but no zinc showing. This must be an earlier die state? (Picture three)

Die crack with split plating. Cool.

Thank you! Split plating... so the same thing that is common on the reverse of 1991 cents. The same idea as split plating doubling?

Nice find. Still looking for a die crack to take place in my error type set. So far I have 1 RPM, 1 Central Hub DDR, 1 die chip, and one LAM error for my collection. Thank you for the info to look out for shield cents with cracks along the edge!

Thank you! I have a lot of them, but I suppose you are looking for some holy grail type die crack? Maybe even a split die? At least a rim to rim die crack? I recently came across some UNC shields with two die cracks overlapping each other, and both die break and retained die break represented on the crack.

I am mainly looking for one substantial enough for my to easily spot it!

Thank you! Hopefully I find a few more. The die seems pretty rare compared to the rest I am finding in these rolls.
