Penny, not "pennie", and yes, just big time damage. Looks like Lincoln got shot at more than once, but most of 'em missed.
I will say that it is is semi-interesting damage. I'm not sure what caused it, or why. And we will likely never know.
That one that pinged right through the rim and bulged out the edge between the TA in STATES is particularly strange. A tiny jeweler's drill bit, perhaps?
Could be. My father was accidentally blasted by a shotgun while pheasant hunting years back. He had a bunch of pellets yanked out of his keester at the hospital ER and survived the experience. If he had been facing the clown that plugged him, and had change in his front pocket, I would imagine the coinage would sustain damage similar to the above picture. Could you imagine getting shot in the dongaroo and then having to have the doctors and nurses extract the lead.....hurts just thinking about it. That's one story that you'd have to for sure exaggerate when telling others about the awful experience ......especially to the ladies. You wouldn't want to say you only had one or two pellets removed from that particular appendage, but rather 30 or 40, so to really get them thinking.
It looks like it got hit from both directions with whatever it was. Both sides appear to have entry wounds and almost-exit wounds that did not quite go all the way through. So it got attacked, flipped over, and attacked again. A brutal assault. Crime scene. Yellow tape. Dozens of Internet crime scene sleuths are gathered around the 55 year old victim, who lies on the asphalt. The body is surprisingly small and riddled with wounds. The detectives discuss theories about what may have caused them. Cause of death remains undetermined, but everybody agrees on one thing: the victim is definitely dead, or DEFDEAD, as @paddyman98 might say.
If the coin was thrown into the air, much like skeet shooting, it well could have been hit on both sides. Finding it afterwards would have been @paddyman98's job. LOL
I already corrected his spelling. Don't beat him to death over it. Somebody already murdered his coin, after all.
I didn't even read the posts from responders. I just saw the title and did my post. No offense meant on either end.
With you it's not old age. Lol I seem to be in a mistake rage for the time being. It will come to pass soon, I hope.
